Ashurst acted for PT Bajradaya Sentranusa ("BDSN") in relation to a
US$ 330.6 million loan to refinance its existing debt incurred in connection with a hydroelectric power plant in Indonesia.
The new financing involved a combination of conventional and Islamic loans (in both IDR and USD) to BDSN based on a common terms agreement, which were funded by a group of lenders (Bank Internasional Indonesia, Indonesia Eximbank, Bank Bukopin, Maybank Islamic Berhad (Malaysia) and Maybank Syariah Indonesia). Certain interest/profit rate swaps and a cross currency swap were also entered into in connection with the new financing.
BDSN, an Indonesian IPP company, is the owner and developer of the 180MW (2x90MW) Asahan 1 hydroelectric power plant in North Sumatra, Indonesia.
