Global law firm White & Case LLP advised Daimler AG on the establishment of a 50-50 joint venture with Robert Bosch GmbH. The consortium agreement regarding the joint development, production and distribution of traction motors for electric vehicles is subject to approval by the antitrust authorities.
The aim of the cooperation between the two companies is to accelerate the development of traction motors and to exploit synergies. The production of the motors and their use in Mercedes-Benz's electric vehicles and Smart cars are due to commence at the beginning of 2012. Bosch will then distribute the electric motors to other car manufacturers. The motors will be produced at the registered office of the joint venture company in Hildesheim. The development site will be located close to the parent companies in the Stuttgart area.
