14 Feb 2013 Tarfaya Wind Farm Project, Morocco

Financing for Tarfaya Wind Farm Project, Morocco - The Tarfaya Wind Farm in Morocco will have a 300MW capacity, making it the largest wind farm in Africa to date. It alone will provide 15% of Morocco’s renewable energy target. The construction is part of the Moroccan Integrated Wind Energy project which aims to increase nearly tenfold its installed wind energy capacity from 280 MW in 2010 to 2000 MW in 2020. Given the estimated wind capacity in the country of 25,000MW this should be achievable, notwithstanding that the industry there will face the same challenges as other countries of feeding into an adequate grid infrastructure and efficient energy storage.
